Recently I had a lady in my office.  She had only been a Christian for a couple of months at the time and she told me that she just wanted to hit me.  I said, “Go ahead take your best shot.”  She then proceeded to tell me she was a black belt in kickboxing so rescinded my offer.  As we began to talk she poured out her heart to me and told me that every time I spoke to her it felt like something was getting knocked out of her.  Every time she came to church, every time we spoke she said something would rise up in her and make her so mad at me that she just wanted to hit me.  She wanted to know how I knew all the stuff about her life without her telling me.

But what she didn’t understand is that I didn’t know anything about her.  I didn’t check up on her so I would know the right words to speak to her.  So I explained to her that the Holy Spirit gives me the right words to say so that God can continue to clean her up and make her in to everything He wants her to be.  She said that her life had completely changed in the last two months and she told me how much she appreciated all that Jesus, the church and staff had done for her.  She really has changed and it has been a joy to watch.

When you live a life available to the Holy Spirit, He will use you to speak life and give life to others.  One of the things I hear all the time is how when people go through a rough time they hope God uses them to help someone else through a rough time later.  I think that on the whole most people want to help others.  But helping others in your own strength and helping them through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit are two totally different things.  When I help people out of my own strength, I usually end up hurting them.  But when I help people through the power of the Holy Spirit, God works it out for their good.

Pray today that God will use you to speak the words of life and show the action of Christ to those you meet.
