Meet Max. Max was a man who loved God with his whole heart. His greatest joy was to read the Bible and meet together with the saints at church. Max had a devotional life that would put the majority of Christians to shame. He was retired and lived in a condo where everything was taken care of for him so all he did, literally from sun up to sundown, was read and study the Bible. Max was a good, God-fearing man. But in the middle of all of his studying, praying and fellowshipping with the saints, he knew he was missing something.
One Sunday I was preaching on the gift of the Holy Spirit and I asked if anyone wanted to receive this wonderful gift. Max was the very first to respond. Max was a good twelve inches taller and at least 45 years older than me, but as I began to put my hand on him as Ananias did to Saul in Damascus, Max began to speak in a beautiful heavenly language. I never touched him, but God did. Jesus said, “John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Max was baptized with the Holy Spirit.
After that, you never saw Max where he didn’t have a tear in his eye. You never heard Max talking about anything but the goodness and grace of God. Yes, Max had received the Holy Spirit into his heart when he received Christ, but now Max was baptized with the Holy Spirit as well.
If you already have been baptized with the Holy Spirit, worship the Lord right now in your prayer language. If you have never spoke in a beautiful heavenly language, ask God to fill you with His precious Holy Spirit now.
