I think a lot of people view worship only through the lens of a Sunday morning service. It’s something we do when we come together to sing and hear the preacher preach. And it’s precisely because of this skewed viewpoint that the Christian community has forgotten in large part the true meaning of worship. At the church where I attend, we emphasize that every part of our church and our individual lives are connected to worship. God is calling your whole life, inside and outside the church walls, to a life of worship.
It has become evident to me that this complete lifestyle of worship is difficult without the power of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit works through you, you become the powerhouse God wants to use to bring the entire world to the saving knowledge of His Son Jesus. The fastest growing churches around the world are Holy Spirit empowered churches. Does this mean they speak in tongues? Sure. But speaking in tongues is only the beginning. God wants to mature you spiritually. He wants to bring you to the place where every part of your life powerfully worships Him. Whether you are in the grocery store, the mall, at work, at school or wherever your day takes you, He wants to use your powerful worship to touch a dying world.
You may think that God could never use you in that way, but that would be another skewed viewpoint. Not only can He, but He will if you make yourself available to Him. Friend, purpose in you heart today to make your entire life a life of Powerful Worship.
