Have you ever felt totally inadequate for the job? Has God ever asked you to say something to someone but you just didn’t feel qualified for some reason? What if you could always say the perfect words? What if in every situation you could say exactly what needed to be said? You may think this to be impossible, but not so. Peter was the last guy who needed to be talking to anyone. He was the guy who woke up every morning hoping his socks were dry from putting his foot in his mouth the day before. Then the empowerment of the Holy Spirit came upon him. And on the day of Pentecost, he spoke the exact words that the people needed to hear. The Bible tells us that 3000 people accepted Christ that day. How could an unlearned man who was always tripping over his words and actions be so used of God? What made the change? The power of the Holy Spirit. Peter had been a great fisherman, but now he had just caught the biggest catch of his life.
I think it is imperative that we all understand that this didn’t just happen that day or for that time only. It still happens today. A friend of mine felt the Lord speak to him to tell a total stranger that she needed to get out of the relationship she was in because the guy was going to cost her everything she had. She looked at him with amazement and said, “you’re the third person today to tell me that.” Now, how could he have known? She was a total stranger. He knew because of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in his life. That same empowerment is there for you as well.
